More Moab

We’ve spent 18 days camping in Moab, Utah.  How will we ever spend another summer without at least a couple of weeks in Moab?

Before leaving, we spent some more time in Arches National Park, walking to see Landscape and Delicate arches.  We also hiked up Negro Bill Canyon to Morning Glory Bridge.  Negro Bill Canyon “boasts a clear, perennial stream – a rarity in the desert environment.”  Beautiful!

Our last day in Moab, we went to a local swimming-hole.   A huge group of BYU students were there, not the typical swimming-hole crowd we’ve gotten used to.  This was a great spot to cool off; we shouldn’t have waited until our last day to find this place.

If you haven’t been to Moab and Arches, you should go!  We’ll definitely be going back, so maybe we can all go together.

More pictures of Moab.

And a little more from desert-loving author Edward Abbey:

“If industrial man continues to multiply his numbers and expand his operations he will succeed in his apparent intention, to seal himself off from the natural and isolate himself within a synthetic prison of his own making. He will make himself an exile from the earth and then will know at last, if he is still capable of feeling anything, the pain and agony of final loss. He will understand what the captive Zia Indians meant when they made a song out of their sickness for home:

My home over there,
Now I remember it;
And when I see that mountain far away,
Why then I weep,
Why then I weep,
Remembering my home.”

    Loved the pictures – they are beautiful! However, Katie, are you really on this trip? I mean, there’s little evidence on “film” of your presence:)
